Circles is a two player game. There is an 8x8 grid of spaces for pieces and there are white and black circle pieces
Each player is a color the person who started the game is assigned the white pieces and the other player is given the black pieces to use. The board starts with four pieces on the board two white and two black. The players take turns placing pieces onto the board until the board is filled, one person does not have any pieces of their color on the board, or neither player has a valid move.
A valid move is placing a piece on the board such that the piece placed has pieces of the other player's color and no blank spaces in between it and a piece of the same color. Possible valid moves are shown in grey circles.
When a valid move is played the piece is added to the board and all of the pieces of the opposite color between it and another of the same color are flipped to color of the piece added.
The player with the most number of pieces on the board at the end of the game is the winner. The astute reader may have notices there are 64 spaces to place pieces and this allows for a tie if the game ends with both players having 32 pieces on the board.
The circles game displays grey circles to indicate possible moves if you do not want to be shown possible moves the option to show helpers can be changed in Edit Settings underneath the top right dropdown menu.
A standard deck of 52 cards, 4 suits 13 cards to a suit, without jokers is used for the game. Aces are considered low for this game.
There needs to be at least two players, four is ideal, but there is a maximum of six players imposed by the number of cards in a deck.
Seven cards are dealt to each player. The remaining deck is placed in the center of the playing surface and becomes the draw pile. To initialize the game take four cards from the draw pile and place them around the draw pile. These are the foundation piles and they are referenced from the position relative to the draw pile ie North, South, East, West.
Players take turns in order and during their turn they can do any number of any of the following:
At the end of their turn, when the player is out of moves, cards, or prefers to not play possible moves, the player takes a card from the draw pile and adds it to their hand.
To win the game a player must play all of the cards from their hand before the end of their turn.
This application has attempted to recreate the King's Corner experience digitally and in doing so decided to only display the top and bottom (the relevant cards) of each game pile. To move cards click the card in the player's hand and then click the game pile to move a card. To end the turn click the draw pile. To move game piles click the draw pile to move then click where to place it.
